School

Working to a mechanical and electrical brief by Max Fordham, KNXperts designed a comprehensive building management system for this language school.

The building is fitted with a PV array on the roof, and minimises its energy consumption through the use of passive ventilation within the teaching spaces and daylight-compensated motion-activated lighting. The KNX-based BMS controls the lighting, HVAC, and passive ventilation systems throughout the building according to an automated schedule and activity within each space, plus the levels of daylight, humidity, CO₂, wind and rain. The BMS optimises the students’ working environment by monitoring the CO₂ levels within the classrooms, and automatically opening fresh air vents to improve the air quality; thus ensuring that students stay fresh and alert throughout the day.
